“Look up at the sky. Ask yourself: Has the sheep eaten the flower, yes or no? And you will see how everything changes…”
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince
A little over a week back, I enjoyed some good advice from Home For Now on how to style a desk. I really like that her ideas cover, what seems to me, each important aspect of a desk in one straight forward, conclusive post.
Tip three, have Something Inspirational, was my call to action. I had, literally, the day before finding Home For Now, just assembled my desk. I had her other two elements down; now I just needed something that will inspire me when ever I look at it.
I fell in love with The Little Prince the first time I read it in my college library. Although I knew that most of the literary messages were beyond me, I loved the imagery and took a lot from this story of innocence and the dangers of growing up. The book touches me every time I read it and has many great quotes to pull from the text.
I was at a toss-up between a few lines. I wanted something uplifting and something that calls me to action. I love this quote because I see creativity and simple love. After the prince invented a pet sheep and had the pilot draw it for him, he had new problems to care for. Although it is silly to be concerned about a sheep the pilot only drew on paper, the little prince’s love for his flower is most real.
The Little Prince makes me think out of the box, at least for a moment. I like looking at that while I blog.
Here is a printable of my Little Prince quote, arranged by me, in Photoshop:
